Atlantians Defined

In Taxonomy terms “Atlantians” is the definition for anyone modern pop culture would identify as a superhero, mutant, wizard etc. As indicated by taxonomy , this is not a race or nationality but a branch of Hominini as Homo Sapian is. Though this does run counter to accepted science, mostly due to accepted science being wholly unaware Atlantians exsist. That is to say, Atlantians share all save a few DNA sequences with Homo Sapiens. The exact percentage is still in some state of debate, but general consensus of Atlantian scientist is somewhere between 98 and 99.75% similarity.

These differences, while small, lead to huge shifts in the ancient world, as outlined later. Atlantians tend to breed less then their fellow Homo Sapiens. This is due largely to the species common traits of wanting to protect and/or gain as much knowledge as possible. This leads to a high mortality rate, either from violence (battlefield, in defending others, etc) or experiment failure or a life spent largely in quiet solitude studying. Though thanks to millennia of interbreeding it is possible for a mating pair of Homo Sapiens to produce an Atlantian. There are no known cases of the inverse being true. The average Atlantian life span is significantly longer then then average Homo Sapien having maintained roughly a ratio of 2:1 years throughout history. That is to say current Homo Sapien lifespans are ~70 years when accounting for differences in gender, the Atlantian lifespan average is ~140 years and there is no statistical difference between male and females of this taxonomy.

Atlantis – A brief description and history

While the accounts of it being an island are correct, it was not a naturally occurring formation. It was a massive public works project, larger then all others in human history combined. The best and brightest of Atlantian engineers, scientist, artisans, and tradesmen devoted their lives across generations to build Atlantis. All this occurring around 80,000 BCE.

It is largely believed that the construction of Atlantis was in response to rise of Lemuria. While modern history confuses the matter (as is often the case with Atlantis) it is documented in Ancient Atlantian texts that the people of Lemuria where comprised of particularly aggressive Neanderthals and later Cro-magnons. This group, like Atlantians, was made up of many different and previously disparate tribes. The great treks escaping ice ages brought these tribes in contact with both each other and Atlantis. However, unlike Atlantians, the only common thread in the Lemuria groupings where a fear and/or hatred of Atlantians. While it is certainly possible some of these feelings where just, like any grouping of creatures not all Atlantians are good, it is likely the majority of this was ignorance. Most likely perpetuated by leaders in the group wishing to grow in power. Whatever the actual situation is, it is mostly agreed that this was done in response to Atlantis attacking and destroying Lemuria ~25,000 BCE, which ended a long period of war between the two. The start of which can be traced to ~50,000 BCE when Atlantis was the primary seat of power for the world. It is believed certain Atlantians where the Annunki of Mesopotanium cultures. It is unclear of Atlantis as a whole propagated this, but it is widely believed they did not discourage it as it aided them greatly in both finding and recruiting Atlantians in the region. As a result Atlantis grew in population rather quickly and as a result Atlantian culture and wealth flourished. This fed into Lemuria’s fears and already rather warlike, spurred a series of Lemuria attacks on Atlantis. The first of which was very nearly cataclysmic as Atlantis was wholly unprepared for war, even though it’s average citizen had tremendous advantage over even the most skilled Lemurian warrior.
Atlantis vanished from the face of Earth sometime between 11,000 and 10,000 BCE. Though it had been subjected to nearly constant attack from a growing number of nations and peoples as the Lemuria propaganda spread past the nation’s boarders and infected the population of all nations and tribes. In a very quick span of time Atlantians went from demi-gods to demons. They where no longer traveling the world seeking those who wished to join, but snatching crying babies from mothers and killing any who refused to join or help.

Though it had been spending many decades mostly under siege from naval blockades, contrary to popular belief (aside from it being fictional) Atlantis did not sink, at least in the vein that suggest, being destroyed. It was widely known by Atlantians at the time that scholars and mystics alike were working on ways to escape the persecution and that if Atlantis did sink, it would be something approaching a meteor strike in destructive force. Accounting for no record of tsunami or other likely cataclysms and the fact that no technology at the time would yield the destructive power necessary the destruction of the man-made island is simply impossible. In reality those left behind are not entirely sure the real fate. However theories range from Atlantis having purposefully submerged as a submarine would, phased into a different timeline (many worlds theory), teleporting elsewhere on earth (most popular are the Arctic Circle or even space (the latter being assigned a more crack-pot style theory), to the development of a force field that renders it both invisible and mostly if not fully incorporeal.
